Godolphin prides itself on its pastoral care for all of the pupils from 3-18. In the Prep in particular, our nurturing approach is achieved through close cooperation between tutors, subject teachers and parents and the boarding staff in Walters House. Each girl meets with her tutor on a daily basis and girls are encouraged to discuss successes, concerns, and school, local, national and international events.

Strong links are maintained with parents through regular meetings and reports. Parents are also welcome in our Friday assemblies, where we celebrate what the girls have achieved each week. Godolphin Prep pupils take pride in looking after each other and our Year 6 Prefects are excellent role models.

I’m often asked what a School Chaplain does. I work right across Godolphin, from the youngest members of the Nursery to the Upper Sixth, with teaching staff and all the other people who make the school such a warm community.

While I’m based in an office in Brome (next door to Sister Gill in the Health Centre), I am at the Prep School every Tuesday morning for Prayers and love the girls’ enthusiasm in singing and volunteering. I’ll often be found at lunch with the Prep girls and I lead the key services of their school year: their Pinny service, Harvest and Easter service as well as supporting the Nativity.

Our whole school services bring the whole Godolphin community together: for the Carol Service and Confirmation and Baptism in the Cathedral and for the Ascension Day service in the Senior School Hall. Girls from the Prep can be baptised and admitted to receiving Communion.

I am always available for help and support for the whole family. My door is always open.”

Sister Gill Davey

The Health Centre is situated half way between the main buildings of the Prep and Senior School and is run by Sister Gill Davey and her caring and competent staff. Sister Gill is known for her quirky, but relevant, poems and songs!

House System

Girls from Nursery to Upper Sixth are members of one of the three competitive Houses – Douglas, Hamilton and Methuen. The Houses are communities and work together in Inter-House matches, charity and social events and collecting House points.

Each school year a girl from Year 6 is chosen to be the House Captain by the other girls in her House. The Prep House Captains work in close conjunction with the Senior House Captains.
During the year there are various whole school Inter-House activities which enhance the sense of community throughout the school.
